The student body will be international, too – 50-60 students drawn from the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia. Students will earn two master’s degrees: a degree in Global Commerce from McIntire, an MS in Global Strategic Management from ESADE, and a certificate in International Management from Lingnan. How the program came into being [4:00] McIntire has been integrating global concepts in other programs – for example, its MS in Commerce includes a 1-month global immersion. This international orientation was attractive for recruiters – it’s increasingly critical for employees to be able to work across cultures. They wanted to provide this deep training by creating partnerships. For whom is the MS in Global Commerce? [5:30] The program is targeted at students who have undergrad training in business/management. What will students learn? [5:55] At McIntire: global strategy, cross cultural management and communication. At Lingan, finance and operations. At ESADE, innovation, corporate social responsibility, and entrepreneurship. At each university, there’s also a focus on â€Å"doing business in X†(China, EU, US). What are they looking for in applicants? [8:55] Strong academics, leadership skills. Also, students who will thrive in an international/cross cultural environment: people who are resilient, adaptable, and open to working with people from different backgrounds. They want applicants with under two years of work experience [9:37] The application process [9:50] All three schools are recruiting students. US students can apply through McIntire – students from outside the US can apply to one of the other campuses if they prefer. The required application materials are: test scores (GMAT/GRE, plus TOEFL/IELTS for non-native English speakers); academic transcripts; essays; letters of rec. If invited, an interview is the next step. The adcom members at McIntire are faculty; they review completed applications and make admissions recommendations. Counterparts at ESADE and Lingan also meet and make recommendations. What does McIntire’s holistic admissions approach mean? [12:10] They want to understand applicants’ story – not just the GPA. For example, they read transcripts to understand the context behind the numbers – trends, courses, etc. And that prompts interview questions that give applicants a chance to fill in the blanks. Ultimately, they want applicants to be successful and gain from the program – so they’re looking for people who are a good fit. How has the first year process been? [14:30] They’re about halfway through the application process, and already have a lot of inquiries from current juniors who are interested in the program. Any opportunities for travel during the program? [15:25] Yes! During the portion of the program in VA, there will be planned trips to DC. And in each location, there are locational visits to companies. Students will be in Lingnan during Chinese New Year, and we expect students will have the chance to visit with their Chinese classmates during the holiday. The posted 4th round deadline is April 15, with a rolling deadline after that. Will applications be accepted after April 15? [16:45] They’ll accept apps through May 15, and probably keep that as the final deadline going forward. The first deadline for next year is Sept 15. Will it be a similar application process? [17:40] Yes. The essay questions may change slightly – the new application will be posted in mid-July to give people a chance to prepare. How did they choose the partner schools? [18:38] McIntire has a track record of innovation (modular courses, team teaching, etc). So they were looking for a similar spirit of innovation in their partners – a commitment to excellence and innovation/collaboration. Is there placement assistance? [20:40] They’re working on ways to make sure students have easy access to counselors at all three schools. And time will be built into the calendar for travel to career fairs and interviews. They’ll also have access to the alumni networks. What types of careers will graduates pursue? [22:50] Leadership development, consulting, finance. Some students already have job offers and are taking a year before starting their jobs to do the course. Is there a language requirement? Or is language instruction part of the curriculum? [23:55] The language of instruction is English. But most admitted students are fluent in another language. In order to ascertain appropriate product cost, it is essential to assign costs to each product fairly, which is considered by using different methods (Chikoto Neely, 2014). In case the organization is involved in the business activities with different jobs, it can use activity- based costing in which the overhead costs is allocated on the basis of separate factor for each product or service line. Organizations that are involved in the producing or manufacturing of different products, required to use activity- based costing method to allocate the overhead costs. In the present case, Reynolds conducted services of wedding invitation cards for her friend Mrs. Lucky under three different jobs. It was noted that the allocation of overhead costs in the bill has been different for three jobs whereas the actual overhead cost found to be $20,000 each month. The overhead cost for one job 115 has been $200 whereas the cost for other two jobs were $400 each, higher as compared to the cost as per agreement made with Mrs. Lucky. Further, it has been noticed that the service used 500 labor hours in May and 250 hours each in June and July, that affected that allocation of overhead costs. Accordingly, it can be said that the overhead costs has been allocated based on the labor hours used in different months and in different jobs. Recommendation on Assigning Overhead Costs to jobs in a Better Way As the services provided by Reynolds incorporated average activity for 500 hours per month while the approximate overhead costs amounted to $240,000 each year it can be said that allocation can be considered as per job costing (Plebankiewicz Le?niak, 2013). Method of job costing involves allocation of costs for the products or services that are prepared on custom basis. Under this method, overhead cost is allocated based on the cost allocated in the previous months. Accordingly, in the present case, it has been noted that the services provided by Reynolds used 500 hours per month with a total costs of $240,000. Therefore, overhead cost each month would be $480 ($240000/ 500 hours) for three jobs that is $160 for each of the jobs which is lower than the assigned job as per the accountant of Reynolds. Moreover, it can be said that the amount of overhead costs as per job costing method involves allocation of cost based on the direct labor hours and cost allocated in the previous months . On the contrary, activity based costing method uses allocation of cost only on the basis of machine hours or labor hours used in different jobs or activities in a particular cost centre (Gneezy, Keenan Gneezy, 2014). Considering the calculation of overhead cost as per job costing method, the amount allocated to job 116 and job 117 represented higher cost than that of the cost allocated in job 115. Additionally, the overall cost as per activity- based costing is also higher than the cost determined as per job costing method. According to job costing method, the total cost of three jobs for one month was $480 where as the total cost of one month for all the three jobs has been $600. Therefore, it can be said that the overall cost as well as specific cost to each of the job reflected lower balance under the method of job costing hence it is the best. Pope however does not appear to think that the journalists are doing any harm since her poem has been written for a newspaper. Mackintosh has respect for all the men in the war come and learn to live and die with honest men but he does not insult the men not joining the war effort like Pope does making them sound lazy taking a seat in the stand. Pope makes the war sound like a huge source of entertainment, referring to it as fun, with the added bonus of fighting for your country. Mackintosh keeps to his anti war status throughout the poem and regards signing up for the war as helping to swell the names in the causality list. Mackintosh ends his poem on a rather sinister but truthful note come and die. Joining the war was not as Pope described and the sad truth was Mackintoshs description was probably accurate. Jessie Pope ends her poem on a positive note making the reader feel their country actually needs them and are calling for you. Both these poems are effective in studying the literature of the First World War as they both present such different pictures. Mackintoshs poem is an excellent example of poetry portraying the realism of war whereas Popes poem is an admirable model of the unfortunate attitude cultivated on the home front. The contrast between the two allows the reader to see the reality of the First World War from two different perspectives.

However, there are certain people and groups that wish to compromise and profit personally from breaking these laws. According to Understanding Organized Crime (2007), organized crime can be defined by the members and the activities of a group. There are many crimes in which organized crime might be involved, but what separates individual crime from crimes committed by groups of people is the term organized or organization. Organization has been described as a group of people who cooperate to accomplish objectives or goals. Organized crime has been around for centuries; from Outlaw gangs in the western days that robbed stage coaches, the pony express, and passengers of trains to today’s Blood and Crip gangs that dominate public streets for power over territories and drug sales. Gangs have been around for a long time imposing on the lives and liberties of law abiding citizens that wish to obey laws. Law abiding citizens have to live in imminent fear that their lives are not disrupted by the actions of these criminal organizations that wish to indulge in crime. In this paper, we will explore the various definitions, perception, characteristics of organized crime, and explore some high profile groups that indulge in different types of crimes. Perception of Organized Crime A University of Phoenix student named was asked how she defined organized crime. ’s perception of organized crime has some of the dynamics right such as profit, power, and hatred, but the reading further states that organized crime has no real black and white meaning, besides a group of people uniting for a common goal. Her answer was simple; she stated that organized crime is when a group of people break laws and/or violate others in order to gain power, profit, or promote hatred. Organized crime groups incarcerated within the prison system such as Nuestra Familia and Mexican Mafia, break laws to gain power that lead to some form of profit; depending on what they need such as drugs, cigarettes, or privileges from others. Drug Cartels as the Shower Posse and Spangler Posse of Jamaica, involved themselves in organize crime to profit from illegal drug activity, and groups like the Ku Klux Klan and Aryan Brotherhood are driven by hatred. Author’s Perception Compare to the Definitions in the Readings The author’s perception of the definition in the reading is similar in the meaning of criminal organization, but the book states that crime can be defined by the members and the activities of a group. This means that crime is what each club sees it to be. This is an interesting point, but very true. Many people (e.g. club members) in society commit crimes for different reasons. Some feel it is necessary to break laws due to their limited necessities in life. It does, in no means make it right, but it is the perception of many. The prisons are filled with individuals/criminals that feel they were doing what they needed to do to defend themselves, take care of themselves, or just was presented with opportunity. Some of them sit in prison for years and still feel that their actions of breaking the law were justified. This is the mentality of most organized crime gangs. All they care about is what they want at the time, and not what the implications of breaking the law ca n lead to, until it hits home. has personal knowledge of different biker groups and 2 Outlaw Motorcycle Gang’s (OMG’s) and was raised in and around the biker atmosphere, but none of those groups that are mentioned in the book. She has heard the mentality of the OMG’s as opposed to regular Biker Clubs. The 1% clubs run their clubs totally different with no regard for breaking the law, indulging in violence, or starting trouble. 1% Outlaw Biker Gangs One of the clubs that she knows of is called the Chosen Few. The Chosen Few is a 1% motorcycle gang that -has first-hand knowledge of. She has known some of their members for a long time and has witnessed how their club is run, aside from other biker clubs that do charitable work in and around their communities, such as toy runs, mentorships, feeding, and clothing the homeless and disable children. In a recent article, from 2010, the Chosen Few M.C. was involved in 3 murders. After this incident, law enforcement officials began to keep a close eye on them and found even more illegal affiliations. The article by Chris Vogel (2011), points out several incidents with Chosen Few members that had negitive run-ins with the law. The article states that agents used confidential informants to buy drugs and guns from members, a member was arrested with more than a kilo of coke, police discovered that a DMV worker was making fake identifications for club members to use in order to buy guns, and a member was arrested with a gallon of PCP which led federal agents to Detroit, where another six gallons of PCP were seized. (Feds Catch Chosen Few Motorcycle Club Members Selling Guns PCP, 2011) According to the characteristics of organized crime with Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMG’s) the Chosen Few, fits the criteria. Characteristics Associated with Organized Criminal Behavior There are certain characteristics of organized criminal behaviors that range from commitment to eminent structure. Commitment is an oath and allegiance to what these clubs, good or bad stand for. It is needed to protect and serve the honor of the organization and all its secrets. Along with this it comes with a sense of power, pride, and protection. Survival is a trait that many organized crime member’s exhibit. It is sometimes used to partake in illegal activities to sustain the worldly goods that obtained. For OMG’s, it may consist of the clubhouse, due paying members, and motorcycles. Punishment is a characteristic that is prevalent in discouraging members from disloyalty, disobedience, or dishonor. These punishments can be in the form of death, beat downs, or in the case of OMG’s fines or snatching of colors. Structure is the final characteristic that needed for an organize crime group to be successful. Like a business is run with a CEO, CFO, and other people in place to ensure order, organized crime groups are ran alike. With a chief officer in place and other members in position to handle different aspects of business to make sure there is no breakdown in with members. In conclusion, organize crime has unique characteristics that has been in place for centuries, and although law enforcement has been investigating the structures of this organizations, it is too many to stop. To observe the effects of temperature and catalyst on the rate of reaction. Introduction Generally, two important questions may be asked about a chemical reaction: (1)How far do the reactants interact to yield products, and (2) how fast is the reaction? â€Å"How far?†is a question of chemical equilibrium which is the realm of chemical thermodynamics. â€Å"How fast?†is the realm of chemical kinetics, the subject of this experiment. In this experiment we will study the rate of oxidation of iodide ion by hydrogen peroxide which proceeds according to the following reaction: H2O2 (aq) + 2 I-(aq) + 2H+(aq) I2(aq) + 2H2O(l) By varying the concentrations of each of the three reactants (H2O2, I- and H+), we will be able to determine the order of the reaction with respect to each reactant and the rate law of the reaction, which is of the form: Rate = k [H2O2]x[I-]y[H+]z By knowing the reaction times (†t) and the concentrations of H2O2 of two separate reaction mixtures (mixtures A & B), the reaction order of H2O2, x, can be calculated. x = log(†t2/ †t1) / log ( [H2O2]1/[H2O2]2 ) The same method is used to obtain the reaction order with respect to I- (mixtures A & C) and H+ (mixtures A & D). Procedures Part I) Standardization of H2O2 Solution 1. A stand, a burette clamp and a white tile were collected to construct a titration set-up. 2. A burette was rinsed with deionized water and then with 0.05 M Na2S2O3 solution. 3. The stopcock of the burette was closed and the sodium thiosulphate solution was pour into it until the liquid level was near the zero mark. The stopcock of the burette was opened to allow the titrant to fill up the tip and then the liquid level was adjusted near zero. 4. The initial burette reading was recorded in Table 1. 5. 1.00 cm3 of the ~0.8 M H2O2 solution was pipetted into a clean 125 ... ...te of a reaction by providing an alternative pathway for the reaction, usually with a pathway of lower activation energy than that of the uncatalyzed reaction. There are some improvements in this experiment. First, hydrogen peroxide is unstable, it decomposes to water and oxygen by time. Therefore do the titration as quick as possible. 2H2O2(aq) 2H2O(I) + O2(g) Second, the concentration of iodine increase is due to the iodide can be oxidized by oxygen which promoted by acids. So, the reading can be taken by the same person and the color change can be observed by the same person. Conclusion In the experiment, the reaction was found to be zero order respect to (H+), it is first order respect to iodide, (I-) , it is first order respect to hydrogen peroxide, (H2O2). Hence the rate law is Rate = k[H2O2][I-]. The rate of reaction is increase when the temperature is increase and the rate is increase when a positive catalyst is added to the reaction.

Your body leans sideways toward the ground as your striking leg is extended toward your target.The impact is made with the heel or outside ridge of your foot. The all-around swing kick is most effective when delivered to the h ead or mid-section of your opponent. Like most kicks, the all-around swing kick can be used defensively or offensively Front Snap The front snap, is one of the first kicks that all Ate Swoon-Do students learn. Most devastatingly effective offensive/defensive techniques in your kicking arsenal when performed correctly. The basic front snap is performed by entering into a traditional fighting stance. You then launch your striking leg forward by quickly raising the knee of your striking leg up to the desired height (It all depends on where you planning to attack, be it the head, mid-section or legs).The lower section of your tricking leg is then immediately snapped outward in the direction of your target. The front snaps power is developed by a combination of upper-leg muscle strength and lower-leg snapping momentum. The impact of the kick can be made with either the instep of your foot of the ball of your foot. To strike with the ball of your foot, you need to pull back your toes, exposing the ball of your foot. Performing the front snap with the ball of your foot is more advanced and takes additional practice.Through continued practice, however, the ability to instantly pull back your toes will become tie natural. The basic axe kick is only effective in close-contact infighting situations, but it is quite easy to extend the range of this kick. Enter into a fighting stance and prepare to launch an axe kick from your preferred leg front of rear (although it's mainly used with the rear leg).Now instead of performing it with your leg locked into position, visualize a target several feet in front of you. Quickly lift your striking leg. As you target. There are two ways to execute an axe kick; the traditional axe kick is brought inward, across your body, and then down-ward onto its target. The out-to-in axe kick is swung outward and is then brought down onto you opponents shoulder. The out-to -in axe kick is also a close- contact infighting weapon. Kicks don't need to be complicated or hard to perform in order to be effective, like we went through at the start, for a kick to be effective in combat, it needs to be fast, difficult to block and able to get through you're opponents guard and hit its target.
